OCTM CONTEST
> What is the OCTM Contest?
The
Ohio Council Teachers of Mathematics sponsors
an annual math contest in February (normally the final Saturday of the month). This contest is 40 questions in
one hour. Problems are moderately challenging, but in this contest speed is important as well.
Specific information regarding the contest can be found
here.
Youngstown State University hosted the contest last year for our region. Students who
do very well are asked to compete in the OHMIO (Ohio High-school Mathematics Invitational Olympiad).
This contest is typically held in Columbus on a Saturday; it is a great experience!
> Who can participate?
Basically, if you want to do it, you're allowed. See one of CHS's
math teachers to find out more.
> How has Canfield done in the past?
We have done very well! In fact, we have had the top team and top individual in our
region several times. See the wall in Mr. Pennington's room for a breakdown.
